Weaning Curious
Trying to wean, thinking about it, or in the "I'll think about it next month" camp — this course was made for you.
Not to push you towards closing this chapter before you're ready. But to hold your hand while you figure it out, your way, in your time.
Without the pressure and without the guilt.

Meet Elizabeth
Her and her daughters weaning journey started months before they actually stopped. She got in touch with me because she wanted to know how to reduce the number of times her daughter was nursing but wasn't ready to be, "done".
After going through Weaning Curious, she made some adjustments to nursing but set it aside for some time, and continued to enjoy their time together.
Months later, she pulled the course material back out again to read through as the pull to be done became stronger. The info, strategies and reassurance made the process so much more manageable for them.

Wherever you're starting from, this course meets you there — no pressure, no timeline, no "you should've decided by now."
You've given so much to this breastfeeding journey. Weaning is one of the most overlooked milestones in motherhood — we prepare for birth, learn to latch, survive supply struggles, and then when the end comes, we're googling at midnight wondering "how do I actually do this?"
Weaning doesn't have to feel chaotic, guilt-ridden, or lonely — it can feel intentional, even beautiful.
In this course, I'll walk you through everything no one talks about — the physical changes in your body, the emotional waves (for both of you), and realistic strategies to reduce nursing sessions without sacrificing your bond or your sanity.
Hi, I'm Tess Hartmann, founder of Birch Postpartum Support. I'm a lactation counselor, postpartum doula, and entrepreneur — but way beyond all of that, I'm "mom" to two girls. I breastfed both of them, and I'm weaning one right now.
My Story

When I began my first breastfeeding journey, I was like a lot of moms: I kept my expectations in my pocket. I said I wanted to try but didn't want to put too much pressure on us. I was afraid to admit how much I wanted this to work, and scared it wouldn't. There was jaundice, a cracked nipple, and many, many nights with my back against the headboard, wondering if any of it was working. And then, it was. And I loved it.
My plan was that I didn't have a plan. I just took every latch as it came, and as she grew, those latches became less about milk and more about moments of connection — grounding for both of us through every transition of mom-and-daughter life. I was incredibly fortunate to have best friends who were breastfeeding their kids into toddlerhood too, so we shared the highs and the lows together, and it mattered more than any of us knew.
If postpartum gets next to no attention, breastfeeding gets even less — and weaning is almost completely ignored by society. But it is a monumental transition, for us and for our littles. It's a shift into an entirely new way of connecting with them. It isn't just a move away from milk. I knew that logically, as a lactation counselor. Living it with my oldest daughter changed how I understood it completely.
Now I'm weaning our second daughter, and even though I could anticipate more of what this transition would feel like this time, the grief of it coming to an end has caught me off guard anyway. We aren't planning to have more kids, so this is the closing of a chapter in my mothering — and because we're doing it slowly, I'm feeling every piece of it. It's hard. It's also beautiful. And I'm letting myself feel all of it.
This is where my life as a mom guided me toward weaning support. What started as private home visits has now evolved into a full online course. It's not just a formula for how to wean — it's not just "here's what happens in your body, here's how to stop."
It's the raw, honest, real information that nobody prepared you for. I'm a lactation counselor, so of course the strategies and the hormonal side of things are covered — but the magic of this course lies in what I'm sharing with you as someone who has lived it, and is living it again.
What Other Mom's Are Saying About 'Weaning Curious'

Stop Googling the bits and pieces. ChatGPT doesn't know what it feels like to stop something beautiful that's part of your mothering.

It doesn't have to be all or nothing.
I changed my mind constantly weaning my girls. One feed I felt so completely done, and the next I was oozing with joy and couldn't imagine our time ending.
If no one has told you yet: there are strategies that can help you to continue breastfeeding even partially, or for longer, until you feel more ready.
Weaning doesn’t have to be (and never starts as) all or nothing. You can shape it to fit your and your families readiness.

If it's on your mind, it was also on mine when I built this program.
